A large area adjacent to Madhumalai forest in Kalpeta block of Kerala’s Waynard district has been hit by severe floods and landslides. Many villages were completely submerged. Hundreds of people are missing. A large number of Bengali. Assamese and migrant laborers from Jharkhand lost their lives in addition to local people. Trivandrum branch of Bharat Sevashram Sangh has started rescue work and distribution of relief in the affected areas. Relief and service work has started in various villages including Churamala Meppadi. Mundakai, Chaliyar, Pattukali. Nilambur. Chambutara.
