A large majority of India’s population has little or no access to educational opportunities. Realising that the spread of education in rural and semi urban areas is crucial to the development of the nation, the Sangha operates more than a 100 institutions in the country providing quality education to disadvantaged children. This combined with vocational training programs empower the youth to be self-sufficient and economically independent.
The Sangha runs institutes for formal and non-formal education which include primary schools, night schools, junior basic schools, junior high schools, high schools and colleges.
We focus on a holistic approach with academic education imparted in harmony with moral and spiritual teachings. Students are taught to respect the traditions and culture of their country, realize the dignity of labour and the fundamental principles of human life, which contributes to building their character.
Pranavananda Computer Institute
The Sangha has setup a computer training institute for underprivileged students at Kolkata. Courses are offered at subsidized cost and include modules such as DOS, E-Commerce, HTML, DHTML, Internet, E-mail, F.A., Multimedia and Java scripting. 850 students enrolled in centres in and around Kolkata.
Scripture Studies
The Sangha, since 1949, has setup a department for organizing scriptural studies among the student community. Regular 3-year graduated level courses are offered by the Sangha. Free copies of scriptures are provided to the students. In rural areas, teaching aids such as lantern slides are used by the instructors. In the year under review, 9000 students from 400 schools and colleges students appeared in the annual examination through 32 centres. Twenty four successful students were given awards.
Physical Education
The Sangha believes in proper physical education and imparts instructions in the art of self-defence through its centres and Milan Mandir throughout the country. Courses are imparted in wrestling, boxing, ju-jitsu and tradition martial arts. The Sangha lays great emphasis in yogic exercises (yogasanas) and has several yoga training centres in different parts of the country.

Lot No. 8, Kakdwip
i) Dharmasala ii) Pre-primary and Primary School – 243 students are studying iii) Charitable Dispensary (Allopathy & Homeopathy) iv) Mobile Medical Van and Ambulance (24 Hrs.) v) Tailoring Training cum Production centre vi) 100 poor students were given scholarship vii) Students Home & scholarship viii) Youth Moral & Physical development centre ix) Baby shirts, pants were distributed to 1000 poor junior school-students of the area x) Poor feeding and relief work at Sunderban xi) Volunteer service during Gangasagar Mela xii) Yoga training – 100 youth participated xiii) A pathology centre started functioning. xiv) A charitable dispensary started at Narayanpur, Namkhana. xv) Financial assistance was provided to 20 boys and girls whose parents were died in sea for boat-sinking during fishing. xvi) 10 handicapped students were given stipend.
Manmathapur Pranav Mandir, South 24 Parganas
133 sets of text books for Class – V to Class – XII were distributed to the needy students of 5 different high school of Sunderban. Blankets & Clothes were distributed to 400 under privileged people at Namkhana, Kakdwip, Patharpratima and Dholahat area. 24 Wedding Saree-sets were distributed to 24 brides. A charitable dispensary provided homeopathy and allopathic treatment to 980 poor patients. A special medical camp was organized for 560 patients. Educational help was provided to 9 needy students of graduate and post-graduate level. “Swami Pranavananda Award” has been given to 35 students for best achievement in 2018 Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations. “Pranavananda Matri Surksha Mancha” consisting of 88 Self Help Groups, involving 1470 women for implementation of women rights and spirituality has been formed. Moral development through “Matri Mandali Sammelan” has been arranged. “Pranavananda Vidyamandir” a Pre-Primary & Primary school providing education to 256 poor students. 21 cultural & spiritual programmes were arranged in “Rabindra Gram Panchayat” area. 2 local festivals were organized – 1) Kumari Puja during Durga Puja festival at Rabindra Gram Panchayat area and 2) Charak (Mahamilan Mela) festival at the end of Bengali year were celebrated with gathering of more than 8,500 devotees. A hostel for 9 poor students is being run and free coaching was provided to 117 poor girl students. Karate coaching are being provided to 100 girls students as a part of women empowerment.
Pranavananda Vidyamandirs (Pre-Primary & Primary) were setup in backward places of Sunderban. Text books and notebooks were provided to 3400 students of 34 such schools of Sunderban.
Kanmari (Sunderban), North 24 Parganas
Blankets were distributed to 300 under privileged people at Sandeshkhali Block. Primary and Pre-Primary School started from 2012. In Primary Section, 217 students are studying.
Khatra:
i) Primary School – 195 students. ii) Text Book Bank – 579 students benefitted. iii) A computer training centre – 50 students. iv) A hostel for 6 poor students. v) Infertility care unit – 768 patients benefitted. vi) Nursing training – 150 students vii) A gym – about 112 students regularly attend practice classes. viii) Four veterinary mobile medical units are running for treatment of domestic animals – 6,00,572 domestic animals treated from 4 Blocks. ix) Pant, shirt, tarpaulin, food, blanket etc. were distributed to 700 poor people.
