The Sangha
The History of the Organisation
The Sangha was established by the Prophet of the Age, Swami Pranavananda, in 1917. In 1896, India saw the emergence of an exceptional yogi — a great spiritual preceptor, social reformer, and patriotic saint. He attained the highest goal of his life at an early age of 20 through strenuous austerities and rigorous spiritual practices.
With complete celibacy, strong moral character and firm determination, his soul was so pure and his heart so kind that thousands of youths and social workers were drawn to him. His approaches were polite, his ideals broad-based, and his progressive ideas in socio-religious and humanitarian services attracted people from all walks of life.
The organisation has its headquarters at 211 Rash Behari Avenue, Ballygunge, Kolkata — running 70+ Ashrams across India (excluding 300+ sub-centres), and branches in the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Phillipines, Bahrain, Australia, and Sri Lanka.
